New Discoveries

Today I spent some time par-oozing the DOSSIER website. This website (along with the related journal) is a manifestation of two friends that decided to tangibly express the creativity they constantly came in contact with in the world around them.

One of the reasons I love the site would be because as the world of high fashion is obviously a huge topic of discussion, the photos used in each article for their "Chronicles of London Fashion Week" are fine art in themselves. Although the focus is on fashion, the photos of the week spark imagination all on their own. It is a double whammy, really. Great photos paired with beautiful looks.

Here are some easy words to remember when considering what is up and coming (and also, what is already here):

stripes
sheer shirts
monochromatic
platform shoes
oxfords
lace

Enjoy your week, reader :)

Saturday

I was reading in Harper's Bazaar today, and when a designer has a S/S 11 next to their item, it means Spring/Summer collection of '11. Same is true of A/W '10... can you figure that one out? Love learning new things.

Well, it looks like J.Crew is all geared up for the spring season. I think the reason I like J.Crew is because it doesn't have the same heir as high fashion. I don't feel like I need to be in a certain club to understand the concepts of what they display. When it comes to their catalogue, there is not just an artistic flare in their pieces, but combinations paired with creative themes. I find this to be especially true with Anthropologie. It's like stepping into the world of imagination (is that a "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" song? I think there's a good chance).

Anyway, J.Crews spring season: Things are looking good. Here's my favorite as of right now.

Goodnight.

Let's start from the very beginning...

Does the first post on a persons blog always need to say "Well, I'm starting a blog..."? If so, that's an easy enough way to start out a public diary, although it's not exactly how I would like to start mine. Let me rather start by saying this blog has a purpose, and that purpose is to connect more with the creative world. I hope to explore more of this blogging world and see what other artists and designers are doing. I plan to use this space to dialogue about what I see in the world. What I see that I like and what I see that I do not like. I secretly hope that everyone will love my blog and then someday it will help me become famous. I also hope that no-one reads my blog so that I can freely write whatever the heck I want. Since only one of those two can come true, I'm going to bank on the first.

So, hello world wide web. I've known you for a long time and I hope this blogging thing will really prove to me that the time I invest in you is not a waste (although I have my doubts).

Time to close, so what better way to close than with the word of the Lord? Recently I've been visiting the book of John on most days. This is the loudest thought in my mind as of recently:

John 16:14 "He (the Holy Spirit) will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you."

What a gift to have the Holy Spirit who reveals to us the Father. What a gift to have the Father God send his Son Jesus freely as a ransom for our sins. "For there is no other name, under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved!"

Goodnight. Goodnight.
